I Went to Miami For 72 Hours — Here's What I Wore

During an aimless Instagram scroll, I saw this post: "No matter how long a trip is, one, two, three days, just take it. We've survived too much not to enjoy this life." And after a recent weekend in Miami with my best friends, I couldn't attest more to the truth of that quote. After having experienced some life-altering moments in our circle, we decided it was time for a relaxing getaway that didn't involve New York's humid subways or bottle-filled beaches. As iconic as a summer in the city is, a break from the madness is necessary ever so often. Since we wanted to do a quick trip, we decided on the city that never fails to show us a good time: the unmatched 305. From eating a ridiculous amount of good food and swimming in the August rain to experiencing their impressive art scene, this weekend was one of the best 72 hours I've enjoyed in a long time. And of course, sartorial fun was had.

As a fashion writer who's been a maximalist since birth, I felt it was a no-brainer to lean into color and unconventional silhouettes in my outfits. Many of the city's most coveted destinations were on our itinerary so of course, I had to come correct — dinner at Gianni Versace's mansion called for one of my most extravagant purchases from AKIRA's offerings; a beach day presented the perfect opportunity to pull out a brilliant color-blocking number from Fumi the Label; and a rare Depop jersey and innovative denim served as a versatile outfit combo for the airport and art museum. No trend-heavy looks here, just an expression of who I am. And it's all yours to glean from ahead.

DAY 1: Since we had an early flight, we decided to capitalize on our first day there. I went with an edgy street look for our first stop straight off the plane, their TikTok-approved Superblue art museum. Fortunately, I found the perfect vintage jersey from H&M on Depop that was appropriate for Miami. I paired the oversized number with a deconstructed denim skirt and the Tulie Yaito x Adidas Forum sneakers for a nice contrast.

NIGHT 1: Being that getting dressed up and going out to dinner is one of my favorite things to do, I was especially excited for each night out. In preparation for any outing, I research the location's ambiance and vibe so that my look can match it. In this case, Sexy Fish is one of Miami's hottest spots so I knew I had to bring my A-game. So, I opted for a tie-dye printed shirt tied at the waist with a chartreuse ruched maxi skirt, platform gold heels, and a bow clutch.

DAY 2: Have you ever gotten a package in the mail and smiled from ear to ear when you opened it? This Fumi the Label set was that for me. Miami is all about color, so I opted for their pink-and-green Dahlia set with Melissa's comfy thong platform sandals.

NIGHT 2: Did you really go to Miami if you didn't visit the Versace mansion? I look forward to visiting this iconic landmark with every trip, and this time was no exception. Of course, I had to dress accordingly considering Gianni's unmatched sartorial legacy. I wore a yellow ruffled dress with gold platform heels and assorted accessories to match.

NIGHT 3: For our final night in the 305, we enjoyed a delicious, luxe dinner at the city's new Catch location. I've been gravitating to red lately, so I traded the traditional LBD for a "little red dress" that featured a neck cutout, mesh sleeves, and a neck tie at the back. I'm also obsessed with color-blocking so I threw on lime lace-up heeled sandals and a multicolored knot bag.
