Starting Summer In Jamaica: In Style

Happy Summer everyone! I know it seems like I've been gone for some time, but I needed some time to regroup. While I was gone, my bestfriends and I went on a vacation to my homeland, Jamaica for my brother's birthday! Since it was such a milestone year for him, it was only right to do things big in the land of our family, parents' birth, our blood, and most importantly, the land that has my heart. This trip home was an escape that we all so desperately needed, even more than we knew, especially since it was my FIRST time there. From reconnecting with God and our roots, to celebrating life with exhilarating adventures including horseback riding by the ever so blue waters of Ocho Rios' sun-kissed coast and rafting, this was truly an experience of a lifetime. While some of the best moments weren't captured on camera, I managed to get some looks in while trying my best to bask in every dreamy moment. If you're looking for inspiration for your next island escape or just looking to elevate your summer style, keep scrolling for all of the vibrant looks that I served in Jamaica.

DAY 1: For our first official day there, I decided to pack a vacation essential in my book, the Louisa Ballou High Tide mesh maxi dress. I loved that the dress really exudes the colors of Jamaica's flag, but in an ambiguous way. While I was headed to the pool, going big was the whole mantra of this trip, so I threw on a pair of platform orange heels, for a nice contrast.

NIGHT 2: For the fanciest night of the trip — my brother's birthday dinner, I wanted to put on my fanciest dress. So, I opted for an all gold look which included a shift tiered dress with an attached belt, platform heeled sandals, and of course, a copper Telfar mini bag.

DAY 2: For excursion day, I made sure to get a piece that really screamed Jamaica. So, I opted for a traditional crochet dress that featured the colors of the flag — black, green, and yellow.

NIGHT 3: When it comes to vacation style, I love to color block, especially with unconventional and unassuming color combos. I wore a neon pink slip dress layered under an orange satin wrap shirt and threw on my orange heels and orange tassel clutch to accessorize.

DAY 4: Would it really be a successful Jamaica trip without visiting Bob Marley's house? Being one of our country's greatest icons, this excursion was one of my brother's birthday wishes and of course, I had to dress accordingly. I wore a traditional Jamaica soccer jersey, white tennis skirt, and red bandana mules. To accessorize, I threw on a black and white geometric print scarf, 70s shades with yellow lenses, and a yellow ruched bag.
